Student-Centered Farm Animal Visits for Preschool through Elementary School Programs

Haystack Homestead offers safe, fully insured, specially designed weekday interactive educational farm animal visits for schools, clubs, preschools, early learning centers, childcare programs, and camps. Our standard experiences are scheduled Monday–Friday and wrap up by noon to fit beautifully into morning school routines. Custom afternoon visits can also be accommodated upon request to fit your schedule.

Our animals, staff, and program structure are carefully chosen to support learning, fun, safety, and respectful interaction. Presentations are adjusted to suit the developmental level of the students, from preschool through elementary grades.

🌾 What the Students Experience

Each one-hour visit is customized to match your students' learning levels and may include:

  • Interactive Animal Introductions: An age-appropriate overview of our farm animals, focusing on their species, breed, unique traits,  and purpose on a working farm.

  • Safety & Handling Demonstrations: A live, staff-led presentation teaching students how to safely read animal body language, offer food, and practice proper hygiene.

  • Supervised Exterior Feeding Station: A highly structured setup where students can interact with, observe, and feed the animals safely from outside the corral perimeter.

  • Observation & Social-Emotional Learning: Guided interactions focused on kindness, patience, and empathy, using natural animal behaviors to reinforce concepts like sharing, gentle boundaries, and emotional awareness.

  • Custom Curriculum Integration: We gladly shape our talking points around your current classroom units. Discussions can be tailored to reinforce core elementary concepts like animal habitats, diets, adaptations, and basic biology.
