Early Learning & Lower Elementary Weekday Farm Animal Visits
Child-Centered Farm Animal Visits for Preschool through 3rd Grade Programs
Weekday mornings | Educational | Engaging | Developmentally Appropriate
Haystack Homestead offers specially designed weekday morning farm animal visits for schools, preschools, early learning centers, childcare programs, and lower elementary classrooms. These visits are scheduled Monday–Friday and wrapped up by noon, creating a well-paced, thoughtfully structured experience that fits beautifully into school routines.
Our animals, staff, and program structure are carefully chosen to support learning, safety, and respectful interaction—without overstimulation. Presentations are adjusted to suit the developmental level of the students, from preschool through early elementary gracdes

What the Children Experience
Each one hour visit is customized to suit your program and may include:
-
An introduction to the farm animals brought on-site
-
Learning that all visiting animals are ruminants, presented in simple, age-appropriate language
-
A live demonstration on how to safely and respectfully feed animals
-
A fully supervised feeding station for hands-on participation
-
Guided interaction focused on kindness, patience, and observation
-
Natural animal behaviors occasionally used as age-appropriate teaching moments around sharing, taking turns, empathy, and managing emotions
For older students, conversations may naturally expand to include basic animal care, responsibility, and simple biology concepts.
