Newborn Angora Goat Kid

Have you ever seen anything more adorable than a newborn?!? Let’s face it, ALL newborns are adorably cute. And this day old Angora Goat doeling is no exception. The photo was taken when she was just one day old. She and her twin brother are growing amazingly quickly - they're only 11 days old now and I see them nibbling on alfalfa already! Their mom, Magic, is a great mother and a strong role model! I want to name this little doeling Black Berry Pie. Berry for short. I want to include “Pie” because she was born on Pi day. 😉 She and her brother came into this world very quickly. We are so blessed that they were born healthy and absolutely perfect in every way. About two months ago, I went out early and found Magic on the ground, nearly frozen, covered in the snow that was falling! She is much too heavy for me to carry, so I phoned Mimi and Nick to hurry over to get her into the house. We moved her to the basement, dryed her, and kept her in front of a heater. Mimi immediately began treatment with antibiotics. But Magic soon exhibited an additional (unrelated) health issue. Mimi and Nick found a wonderful farm vet who was willing to see her on an emergency basis. He treated her most urgent medical issue and advised Mimi to continue the treatment she had begun for the initial illness. We weren’t sure how the treatment would affect the unborn kids – but it was necessary to take the risk in order to save Magic’s life. …. All is well that ends well. ... Magic is now a happy, healthy mom to two incredible kids! Life is Grand!

If you're going to be in the Mayberry / Mount Airy / Yadkin Valley area hope you'll make arrangements for a 'behind the scenes' tour of the Homestead!
